Ruth is a beautiful picture of God
how she trusted in him and got her reward
Now we go to Samuel book one and two
how David was king and of the good he did do
Kings talks of miracles and how a leper was healed
how men fought in battle with their sword and their shield
Chronicles tell how Solomon was wise
and all of his splendour and how he dies
Ezra tells of a nation cleansed from its sin
and how the building of a temple was to begin
Nehemiah a wine taster was he
who displayed total humility
We turn to Esther a book seldom read
but its in the bible its our daily bread
Next there is Job what a sad time he had
and as he struggled through he must have felt bad
The Psalms are a book of poems and praise
and you get an insight to some of God's ways
Proverbs from Solomon what a wise man he was
and he wasn't afraid to speak out for God's cause
Ecclesiastes makes you take a good look
about obedience to God it's all in the book
The Song of Solomon portrays a love story
explicit sensual and not at all gory
Isaiah talks of Jesus the son
and through him how God's work was done
Jeremiah what a life he did live
though very sad he had so much to give
Lamentations means to cry out loud
a book of woes living under a cloud
The book of Ezekiel is hard to understand
but I'm sure if you ask God he will give you a hand
To Daniel we turn as you read you will see
how revelation ties in with his prophecy
Hosea a man who was steadfast and strong
whose marriage to Gomez went terribly wrong
Joel's name means Yahweh is God
if your not following him your life is flawed
Amos and Obadiah prophets were they
who ask people to repent by night and by day
Jonah a man whom from God did flee
and for three days and night a captive was he
Micah what a beautiful story
it tells of Israel's future glory
Nahum talks of the attributes of God
and shows how he rules with an iron rod
Habakkuk ask a question on many mans lips
and then on praise he gives you some tips
Zephaniah talks of a future day
and the blessing of those whom to God do pray
Four main appeals make the book of Haggai
and show how to trust in the Lord most high
Zechariah talks of the future and the past
and how Christ's reign on earth is going to last
The last book of the Old Testament is Malachi
and how we rob God when we do not tithe
Would you ever have thought so many chapters in one book,
but there's more to the bible so lets take a look
If you look at the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
you will see how Jesus life's work go on and on
The book of Acts talks of the Gentile Salvation
and the day of Pentecost that swept over the nation
Paul sent a letter to the Church of Rome
he was anxious to minister where he's already known
Paul went to Corinth he had to do it twice
once wasn’t enough it did not suffice
In Galatians Paul writes how you're saved by God's grace
and how this applies to the whole human race
Paul writes in Ephesians about the armour of God
to protect you from Satan who's a cheat and a fraud
Philippians talks of peace and humility
and how living for Christ is the way you should be
In Colossians Paul speaks of the faith love and hope
and in exalting the Lord he helps you to cope
Thessalonians 1 Paul wrote what people should do
but they misunderstood so he wrote Thessalonians 2
Timothy 1says fight the good fight and minister to all
Timothy 2 says be a soldier of Christ and then stand tall
Titus talks of the duties of ministries to men
he talks of women who gossip and drink now and then
Paul wrote to Philemon to accept someone who'd done wrong
and in doing so he proved to Paul that to Christ he belonged
Who wrote the chapters of Hebrews well God only knows
but right throughout the chapters Jesus truly glows
The letter of James gives instruction how to pray for the sick
and how to get rid of evil words when in your mind they stick
1st Peter writes of the true grace of God in which you stand
2nd Peter warns of the false teachers who do things underhand
Now we come to the letters of John 1, 2 and three
he tells you how to confess your sins in order to be free
Jude exposes the false teachers and tells of their fate
how they devour the flesh with greed spite and hate
Now we come to Revelation the greatest of them all
it tells of life eternal and of Satan's fall
We've been right through the bible from beginning to the end
I suggest you start all over with Jesus as your friend
And as you are reading you will see he talks to you it's free,
it's exciting and we know that it's true.
